World Heritage for Sustainable Development in Africa / Le Patrimoine mondial pour un développement durable en Afrique

This UNESCO publication examines the link between World Heritage and sustainable development in Africa. It highlights the challenges of protecting heritage sites while aligning policies with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the African Union’s Agenda 2063. Based on the 2016 Arusha conference and the Ngorongoro Declaration, the book brings together 28 contributions from heritage professionals. It explores key themes such as environmental sustainability, social inclusion and economic development, showing how World Heritage can act as a driver for inclusive and sustainable growth across the continent.
