Large Ammonite Fossil Pair

This impressive Ammonite fossil pair comes from Madagascar. The species, Perisphinctes, thrived during the Jurassic Period, approximately 160 million years ago! The shell has been cut in half to display the incredible growth chambers on the inside. Calcite crystals have partially replaced many of the chambers. The front of the pair has been cut and polished to a high gloss finish. The back and sides have been lightly carved. The fossil fluoresces under ultraviolet (UV) light!
