Tuga Tyvek is a simple but powerful studio trick: a precision-cut 12" Tyvek sheet designed to sit directly on your wheel bat. Throw your piece on top, leave it to dry, and when the clay firms up it will release cleanly—often without needing to wire off at all. Because Tyvek is water-resistant but breathable, it allows moisture to escape while preventing the clay from bonding tightly to the surface. This makes it especially useful for plates, platters, and pieces with wide bases, where wiring off can sometimes distort or damage the form. Just place the sheet on your bat, throw as usual, and lift it off with the piece when you're done.
