Pewter Rosemaling Bowl
Pewter is very common in Norwegian art culture. Dating back to the Viking age when Norsemen ruled the oceans, Norwegians have produced unique wares in pewter. You can read more about pewter <here>. This mid-century bowl combines Viking time pewter with Rosemaling that was first developed in the mid-1700’s. A beautiful Rosemaling motif decorates the bottom of the bowl, with a hammered effect around the sides. The bowl is stamped by the designers Eik Tinn that harken out of Eik in Rogaland on the south coast of Norway. The bowl is just over 7″ in diameter and 2.5″ tall. It weighs just under a pound. It’s in great shape with no dents or scratches we can see. Eiktunet, Norway
