Who are the instructors? Jake Workman Jake began playing the guitar when he received one for his 13th birthday. A year and a half later after starting the guitar, Jake’s introduction to bluegrass music came when his parents surprised him with a banjo for Christmas. Jake’s love for bluegrass grew heavily over the next few years as he attended jams and festivals throughout the Western states and eventually the entire country. In late 2015 he got the call from Ricky Skaggs to join his award-winning band, Kentucky Thunder. He has a degree in jazz guitar performance from the University of Utah. When not performing, he teaches private lessons, composes and does session work. His 2019 record, Landmark, showcases his writing ability as well as his seasoned playing. Jake was featured on the cover of the May/June 2015 issue of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine and in 2020 he was awarded the IBMA Bluegrass Guitar Player of the Year. Tim Stafford Tim is co-founder and guitarist for award-winning bluegrass band, Blue Highway. Prior to that, he toured with many others including Alison Krauss. A prolific songwriter, Tim has over 300 songs recorded. He co-wrote IBMA's 2008 Song of the Year, "Through the Window of a Train," and was named IBMA's Songwriter of the Year in 2014, 2017 and 2023. In addition, he is a sought-after studio musician, having recorded with over 75 artists in addition to Blue Highway, including Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, & many more. Tim is a unique stylist on the guitar, & stands out amongst the best as a true originator & innovator. Banjo Ben Clark Ben has taught thousands of guitar pickers worldwide for nearly two decades and specializes in unlocking the fretboard for better understanding. He thrives on seeing his students "get it" and take their guitar playing to a new level. Though he plays many instruments, the guitar holds a special place in his pea-pickin' heart. Cancellation policy: All cancellations will incur a 3.5% processing fee. No refunds after June 2, 2026. If for some reason the event is not able to be held, refunds will be given. FAQs: Will the camp be recorded for future access? You bet! All sessions will be recorded, and registrants will be sent a private link where they can access the material (video, tabs, & other downloads) as often as they need. Do I have to attend live? No, since the event will be recorded, those who can't make it live will have access after the event is over. What topics will be taught? Our goal is to make you a more complete guitar picker! The instructors will be teaching diverse topics so that your experience will be the best investment for you! We'll cover rhythm, fills, developing solos, and more! We'll use a familiar bluegrass standard as the medium for the teaching, but the things you'll learn will be widely applicable. Do all the camp sessions happen in one evening? Yes, they will be presented back-to-back with a break between each session for bathroom visits and guitar-tuning. Do I need any special equipment to attend? An internet connection with a device like a computer or iPad is all that's needed. How will I be able to ask questions of the instructors? While we there will be no need for a microphone or webcam, we will be receiving questions beforehand via the event forum page HERE and during the event on the live chat. Your interaction is encouraged!
