Early-Summer 2026 Wheel 2: Skills Training
Wheel 2: Skills Training Series 2.5 Hours per Class | Beginner + or Wheel 2 Level A focused, technique-driven class designed for students looking to refine and expand their wheel-throwing skills. This series is built around practice, repetition, and problem-solving. Rather than producing finished pieces, the emphasis is on developing control, confidence, and a deeper understanding of form through guided exercises and hands-on coaching. Each session is structured as a skills clinic, where techniques are demonstrated and practiced with direct feedback from the instructor. Students are encouraged to push their limits, experiment, and learn through process—including cutting work in half to understand form and structure better. Prerequisites This class is intended for students who have taken at least three wheel classes (or equivalent). You should be able to: Confidently center up to 3 lbs of clay using the coning method Consistently create intentional forms Be comfortable dissecting and recycling your work as part of the learning process What You’ll Learn Techniques covered may include: Throwing tall forms Trimming and refining bottoms and feet Throwing off the hump for small multiples Throwing blind Collaring for bottles and closed forms Doughnut rings Centering larger amounts of clay The exact program is shaped by the instructor based on the group’s skill level and areas of interest. Good to Know This is a practice-based class—pieces are not intended to be kept Open to intermediate students (not suitable for beginners) Practice clay and tools are provided Classes are 2.5 hours, including cleanup Intended for adults and youth aged 15+ Dress for mess or bring an apron (aprons are not provided) We recommend bringing a small towel for your hands View our refund policy here
