A Black label nano lot from Nido, the plot that made history. In 2025 Hacienda La Esmeralda swept all three categories at Best of Panama, something no farm had done in the competition's 29 years, and both winning Geisha lots came off this one piece of ground. Several judges scored the washed a perfect 100. Nido sits at 2050 metres in a remote corner of Cañas Verdes, land that was once vegetables and then pasture. The name means nest, for the quetzals that have lived up there for generations.The code is the recipe, and the farm spells this one out. FC stands for cold fermented washed with climate controlled drying. Picked at their ripest on the 25th of February 2025, the cherries were depulped and then fermented at 16 degrees in stainless steel tanks for 48 hours. The coffee then dried for 21 days on raised beds in the same indoor drying facility, with constant airflow and precise temperature and humidity control. The plot is a single hectare of Geisha trees that are eight years old.This is the delicate one. White blossom and jasmine on the nose, then white tropical fruit in the cup, lychee and rambutan, perfumed and clean rather than jammy. Honey and ripe peach underneath give it weight. Brew it gently and do not chase strength, it rewards a light hand.
