Their gins portray landmarks and stories from the island and have a significant connection to the island and its community. The distillery was first established in 2019 by five ladies who came out of retirement to create something new and exciting on the island. After five years they passed the torch to Caroline and Struan Fraser who were both born and raised in Ayrshire and have years experience in the whisky industry. An ancient Celtic name meaning 'Star of the Sea', Maura celebrates Scotland's women, who helped shape its history, legends and stories of the sea. The botanicals feature delicate wildflowers and berries of Scotland's West Coast, including raspberry, blackberry, and red clover. The label artwork is designed by the celebrated Scottish painter Hope Blamire. Her vibrant artwork is inspired by nature and captures the coastal landscapes and glistening waters of the West Coast of Scotland. The label has been heat fired onto the glass creating a premium and permanent design. Perfect serve: Maura is best served with a light tonic and a slice of orange or grapefruit.
