Gonzalez Byass Lepanto Solera Gran Reserva Brandy de Jerez 700ml

Lepanto is González Byass's brandy, and it holds a distinction no other can claim: it is the only Brandy de Jerez both distilled and aged within the city of Jerez de la Frontera itself. The spirit is double distilled in pot stills from Airén grapes grown in La Mancha, then brought south to the bodega to age. Maturation follows the traditional solera system, running roughly twelve years through casks that previously held the house's own sherry. That long, slow fractional blending is what gives the brandy its mahogany colour with golden lights and its unusually composed character. The nose is toasty and complex, toasted almond and dried fig over old oak spice and a mellow sherry undertone. The palate is dry but generous, velvety in texture, with caramel, raisin, roasted nuts, cedar and a whisper of tobacco leaf. The finish is long and persistent. Serve neat in a copita or a brandy balloon.
