Thistle Paperweight

A handmade paperweight with a thistle encapsulated in a resin shell. The perfect desktop accessory bringing a little of the outdoors in. The thistle is Scotland's national flower an emblem of national resilience and defense. The biennial plant features large, purple flower heads and sharp, silver-gray foliage, often growing over 2 meters tall. According to tradition, a sleeping party of Scottish warriors was saved from a surprise ambush by Norse invaders when an attacker stepped on a thistle and cried out, alerting the Scots to the danger. The flowers and seedheads within these paperweights are grown naturally on mountains or in carefully tended gardens. Each specimen is hand picked then dried to preserve their natural beauty. They are cast in clear resin and then individually turned and polished. Each paperweight is a unique one off piece, making it the ideal gift or keepsake. One size: 85mm diameter
