Martin 2013 Custom Shop D-42 Adirondack & Madagascar w/ Original Case, Excellent

No sales tax for US customers outside California. This Martin Custom Shop D-42 sits on the highest end of the Martin catalog. It and the D-45 get their best woods, always better than even the D-41. This example has some significant custom-order specifications - Adirondack spruce and Madagascar rosewood. The Style 45 Snowflake abalone inlays, ivoroid-and-abalone top binding, ivoroid back and side binding, and ivoroid-bound ebony fretboard place this guitar in Martin's upper ornamental tier. Waverly open-gear tuners are a known upgrade over standard Martin hardware, well-regarded for smooth, accurate tracking. Abalone-top TUSQ bridge pins, bone nut, and bone saddle are all original. The tortoiseshell pickguard is original. Bridge, and bridge plate, are all original and in excellent condition. The saddle was replaced. The original owner had it lowered to a point where the guitar played like a telecaster. A bone saddle replaces the original and the guitar plays perfectly with correct relief and neck angle. This guitar isn't just a looker - it sounds brilliant with broad dynamic range, strong fundamental, and a top end that opens up with play. The 25.4" scale and 1-11/16" nut width are standard Martin dimensions, and the GE Modified Low Oval neck profile keeps things comfortable without sacrificing rigidity. This guitar is in excellent condition throughout: finish, fretboard, frets, top, back, sides, and bracing all grade out without issue. The original Martin hard case is included and rates very good with no odor. This guitar was built at the beginning of a period during which Martin used binding flue that can "let go" on some guitars. The binding on this guitar at the waist on the top, treble side of the guitar lifted a bit. We had it professionally re-glued and have posted pictures. Otherwise, no cracks, repairs, or modifications to the neck, top, back, sides, or fretboard are on record. One addition to note: an LR Baggs Anthem pickup system has been installed — this is not original to the guitar. The output is routed through a rear-mounted LR Baggs output jack that replaces a strap button at that position. Buyers who prefer an unplugged instrument should factor this in; the installation appears to be the only non-original element. No documentation is included. High-end, original Martin case included.
