Lewis, Dolores – Seedpot with Acoma Bird and Flower (1990s)

Dolores Lewis is a daughter of renowned potter Lucy M. Lewis. Dolores is known for use of classic Acoma and Mimbres designs in her pottery. This is a small round seedpot. It is painted with bee-weed (black) for the design. The is a large Acoma parrot on the top and and a flower design. The parrot is highlighted with red clay. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Dolores Lewis” and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. While Dolores makes little pottery today, work remains some of the classic traditional pottery of Acoma pueblo.
