Red Hook
A contemporary hybrid of a Manhattan and a Brooklyn, the Red Hook was the first hero of the rye whiskey revival of the 2000s. All three ingredients, rye, Punt e Mes and Luxardo maraschino, were obscure at the time, and that experimentation is what made the Red Hook a sensation. Vincenzo Errico is still making them, though he lives back in Italy now. This is almost certainly the most famous cocktail created by an Italian since the Negroni.
