It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, making it durable and resistant to scratching. Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight can cause the colour of some rose quartz to fade. It is found in many parts of the world, with major sources including Brazil, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, India, Sri Lanka, and the United States.
