Wine Type: Sparkling Red Grape(s): 100% Lambrusco Grasparossa Country: Italy Region: Emilia-Romagna Organic: No Vegan: No ABV: 11% Winery: The winery is located in the heart of Lambrusco Grasparossa’s territory, located in the hamlet of Settecani (which means Seven Dogs in Italian), on the border of the towns of Castelvetro, Castelnuovo Rangone and Spilamberto. A winery that has grown from 48 farmers in 1923 to more than 200 farmers now. This family-run company has worked together over the years to create a unique brand, develop new products, and enter into new foreign markets, which has resulted in many achievements, awards, and high-quality products. At Cantina Settecani, the family embraced the region’s rich history and situated themselves amidst the churches, castles and vine-covered hills that define such a traditional territory. They use a combination of cutting-edge, modern technologies with the traditional family processes while also respecting the environment and promoting sustainable production. The Cantina is proud to have produced a product which has attracted many important admirers, such as the famous Italian cyclist Gino Bartali who travels all the way to Modena to enjoy the delicious Lambrusco Settecani in the historic restaurant of Zoello and always brings a trunk full home – a tradition that continues to this day. Winemaking: The must goes through a pre-fermentation maceration for around 48 hours. It has a single fermentation at a controlled temperature of 16/18°C degrees in an autoclave (pressurised steel tank used in the production of Prosecco or Lambrusco in the Charmat or Martinotti method). Secondary fermentation and ageing also takes place in an autoclave. The Lambrusco Grasparossa Secco DOP "Linea Selezione Vini del Re" is a vibrant and elegant expression of the Lambrusco Grasparossa grape variety, crafted entirely from 100% Lambrusco Grasparossa grapes sourced from the picturesque hills of Castelvetro, Modena. This wine reflects a commitment to quality and sustainability, being certified VIVA for sustainable winemaking practices. The wine has received notable accolades, including 3 Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso 2024 and 91 points from Wine Enthusiast, showcasing its exceptional quality. Tasting note: This has a vibrant ruby colour accentuated by violet hues, and an elegant floral bouquet. On the palate, it has an intense fruity taste (ripe berries and cherry), perfectly balanced with a refreshing acidity. Food pairing: This wine is versatile and pairs wonderfully with pasta dishes and rich meat courses, making it an excellent choice for both everyday meals and festive occasions.
