Tip & Run | Original Memory Landscape Painting

These hybrid works bring together two parts of my practice: nostalgic stencil figures and intuitive abstract painting. The background develops freely through layers of colour and mark-making before the figure is introduced - I'm painting the feeling of a memory rather than the memory itself. Tip & Run is inspired by the backyard cricket games that became a part of almost every Australian childhood. It's less about a particular moment than the feeling of endless summer afternoons, where a bat, a ball and a few made-up rules were all you needed. 40 x 40cm (43 x 43cm framed) Mixed Media on canvas.
