Vintage 1954 Gretsch G6193 Country Club - Natural With OHSC

That's right, from the beginning of the golden era of rock'n'roll comes this epic Gretsch that has everything you want from a vintage one! You rarely see these, especially in such amazing condition. This rare guitar is a monumental piece of Gretsch history. It is a top-of-the-line, big-body jazzbox built right at the dawn of the rock 'n' roll era in Brooklyn, New York. As the natural-finished sibling to the sunburst G6192, the G6193 sat at the very top of the Gretsch catalog, showing off select, un-burst figure in the maple back and sides paired with a carved spruce top. It has a massive 17 inches across the lower bout, and a 3.5-inch deep electric maple hollowbody that brings you sophisticated archtop elegance with big, airy projection. The neck features a thick vintage profile that is comfy in the hands with a bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, which has 21 frets and is adorned with hump-back block inlays. This '54 Country Club features a pair of legendary single-coil DeArmond Dynasonic pickups with individual adjustable polepieces. Known for their incredible clarity, fat low end, and bright, glassy chime, these pickups create a voice that has plenty of woody depth for sweet jazz comping, but with enough bite and snap to drive a vintage tube amp into early rockabilly and western swing overdrive. Controls include individual volume knobs for each pickup, a master volume on the lower bout, a master tone knob, and the classic three-way pickup selector switch on the upper bout. Every detail on this golden-era instrument screams high-end luxury with its gold-plated Synchro-Sonic bridge, gold Grover imperial tuners, and its oversized tortoise pickguard complete with engraved Gretsch logo. You'll enjoy the pitch-bending bliss of the original Bigsby tremolo, which still functions perfectly. Everything is original, except for the selector switch. The natural nitrocellulose lacquer finish has aged over seven decades into a warm, ambered patina that you simply cannot replicate in a modern build. It's an iconic piece of American guitar royalty that bridges the gap between big-band jazz era to early rock 'n' roll. This piece is in excellent condition, especially considering the year it was born. Amazingly, the binding is in tact....that's something you rarely see with these.
