The Hasselblad X2D II 100C brings 100 megapixels of medium-format imaging to a body built for the field, and Nauticam takes it safely underwater. Its 100MP BSI CMOS sensor is roughly 68% larger than full-frame and captures true 16-bit color with a remarkable 15.3 stops of dynamic range, the latitude that separates a recoverable sunball from a blowout. It is the first 100-megapixel medium-format camera with true end-to-end HDR, and a new AF-C continuous autofocus system, driven by deep-learning subject detection across 425 phase-detection zones, finally lets that enormous sensor track moving subjects with confidence. The Nauticam NA-X2DII Machined from a solid block of marine-grade aluminum and depth rated to 100m, the NA-X2DII is a fully-featured housing for the X2D II 100C built around the N120 Auto Lock Port System II (international patent pending). Ergonomic handles with stabilizing brackets come pre-installed, and every essential control falls within reach of the hands, so the photographer can concentrate on composing the scene rather than the housing. Mission Control Design The NA-X2DII follows Nauticam's Mission Control philosophy, placing controls where they are needed most so no shot is lost fumbling for a dial. A zoom/focus control knob and a dedicated Control Ring dial drive the XCD lens family (XCD 35-100E and the 25V/38V/55V/90V primes). Both front and rear scroll wheels are fully supported, including their clickable function, a front custom button is triggered by a lever on the front right, and an AF-ON pad on the rear right places back-button focus under the thumb. The result is fast, deliberate handling that keeps pace with the camera's new continuous autofocus. Premium Professional Optics Built around the N120 Port System, the NA-X2DII supports the XCD lens lineup with a selection of optical-glass and acrylic ports as well as access to Nauticam's premium water-contact optics. The Wide Angle Conversion Port 2 (WACP-2) delivers up to a 140° field of view with near-zero minimum focus distance and exceptional corner sharpness, while the WACP-1B offers a compact, travel-friendly wide-angle option; both are designed with computer aided lens design software to extract the optical quality a 100MP sensor deserves. Flash Triggering The XCD lenses use a leaf shutter, which syncs flash at every shutter speed up to 1/4000s. Underwater that is a genuine advantage: it frees the photographer to balance strobe light against bright ambient water without the sync-speed ceiling that constrains focal-plane cameras. Triggering is handled by the optional 26330 Flash Trigger for Hasselblad (manual) firing through built-in fiber-optic bulkheads. For hardwired strobes, an electrical connection is available via the optional M14 Nikonos 5-pin bulkhead with hot-shoe connection. Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System The NA-X2DII ships with Nauticam's moisture alarm and leak detection built in, and it accepts the optional M16 Vacuum Valve II for a pre-dive vacuum check that confirms the housing is sealed before it ever enters the water. Both share the same circuit, so any water intrusion triggers an audible and visual warning. The system is temperature compensated, eliminating the false alarms that a warming camera or a change in water temperature would otherwise cause on an action-packed dive.
