Domaine de-Jean Bon "Silver Lining"

Description: Domaine de Jean-Bon has existed since 1880. Named for their ancestral family of Sourdois, and one of three Sourdois sons named Jean, who was eventually dubbed Jean-Bon, or the Good John. Today, the mother-daughter duo of Beatrice Sourdois-Lacourt and Clemence Lacourt carry out the family legacy and tend to the land meticulously. They produce fine and fragrant eaux de vie from 100% Bacco grapes that are aged in oak barrels in a traditional cellar on property. This barrel from 1996 was one of the final casks tasted late into the evening of a particularly challenging trip for the OADE team. It will forever be etched into our memory as a reminder of how special the spirit and the people of Armagnac can be. Tasting Notes: Nose: This pour is a caramel bomb! Immediate aromas of caramel, honey blossom, soft baking spices and oak. Palate: The palate really matches the nose on this one - Spiced honey, rich caramel, some stewed apple, and a touch of vanilla. Finish: Very reminiscent of the perfect tarte tatin. The sticky sweetness from the palate carries through to the finish with a beautiful balance of sweet and tart notes.
