1930s Blue Floral Brocade and Silver Lamé Jacket

This 1930s lame jacket is tailored from textured blue floral brocade woven with metallic silver lamé, it has a softly structured fit-and-flare silhouette and a curved shawl collar finished with elegant quilting. The jacket fastens at the front with two fabric-covered buttons. The sleeves are long and relatively slim through the arm, each finished with an impressive row of 12 fabric-covered buttons running from the cuff towards the elbow. It is unlined, allowing the construction and reverse of the brocade to remain visible. The jacket is in very good to excellent vintage condition, with the delicate metallic lamé remarkably well preserved. There are some light, age related marks to the two front buttons, but these are minor in the context of a garment approaching 90 years old. There are no surviving size or composition labels but this is not a home made piece and likely retailed in an upmarket department store.
