Selenophile is an app for moon photography that tells you the right camera settings to use when you're out and about – and when your next trip will really be worth it. It opens with the current moon phase, calculates the exposure time for you, and works completely offline. Developed by landscape photographer Manuel Mohorovic from Switzerland. Why the moon is so difficult to photograph When someone photographs the moon for the first time, they usually get a white disk with no detail. The reason: the moon is a sun-drenched rock surface and therefore about as bright as a landscape during the day – while everything around it is night. The camera's automatic exposure reliably fails in the face of this contrast. Selenophile solves precisely this problem. You input your current settings, and the app tells you if they are correct or what you should change.
