Apocalypse III

Apocalypse III is a small vertical painting organised around a broad, horizontal passage of muted light emerging from a dark surrounding field. The central area remains diffuse rather than fully descriptive, with layered tones of grey, brown, blue, and subdued ochre held within the visible texture of the canvas. The image moves between atmospheric abstraction and the suggestion of a partially obscured scene. Part of Wilame Lima’s Apocalypse series, the work uses reduction and tonal restraint to suspend recognition, allowing the surface and the gradual emergence of light to become the painting’s primary structure.
