Circa 1980s Unheated Octagonal Step Cut Bi-Colour Sapphire Ring, 18ct Yellow Gold, size K1/2 or 5.5, 2.88g, with valuation

The bi-colour nature of this stone is just captivating. At one end a fabulous dark blue - inky like the midnight skies. And at the other - a river of vibrant green and yellow. The way this line bisects the stone - and the placement being not at half way - but off-centre - in a stone set in a bypass style ring is just the most glorious mix of lines and angles in the most fabulous way. This yellow and green section allows you to peer into this stone and see those fabulous facets (more great angles) and gives this ring such a geometric feel. Held in a four talon claw setting in between two bypass rails this ring is architectural and screaming for attention. The ring is fabulous buttery 18ct yellow gold and against the dark of the sapphire and the bright green and yellow it is rich and warm- and we adore the contrast.
