They reveal themselves slowly. What began as layers of colour and intuitive movement gradually transformed into a hidden world of forests, water, mountains and unexpected creatures. A wild cat watches silently from the undergrowth, a bird disappears into the canopy, while subtle forms continue to emerge the longer you look. Created in my mountain studio in the Western Cape of South Africa, this painting reflects the experience of living surrounded by untouched wilderness. Long walks through the dense vegetation, hidden rivers and ancient trees have gradually found their way into my work. Rather than depicting a specific place, the painting captures the feeling of entering a landscape where nature quietly reveals itself over time. Rich layers of acrylic and expressive oil stick marks invite us to slow down and discover something new with every encounter.
