[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”” css_params=””]Arthur Macclesfield Adoption fee is £350 4 1/2 years old Male, mini dachshund (5.5kg) Red, smooth coat Neutered Arthur is a gorgeous little dog who loves quiet walks, exploring the garden and a cuddle with his humans. He is looking for a calm new home with someone who can give him the time and attention he needs and who is prepared to invest time and patience into helping him settle. He is an anxious boy and although his current family love him just as he is, he is also living with another anxious dachshund who is recovering from IVDD. The other boy is now no longer the active playmate he once was and this has led to increased stress for both dogs and one or two fights. Arthur is a sensitive and smart boy who will benefit from a regular routine and a quiet home where there are clear boundaries. He can currently be left in the morning for up to 4 hours, but if left in the afternoon he will howl and be unsettled. His new family will need to be prepared to work with him so he can learn that time apart is OK. Arthur can resource guard toys and long-lasting chews and this will need to be managed if he moves to a home with another dog. We will provide behaviourist support if needed, to help ensure he can move successfully into his next, forever, home. Outside the home, Arthur walks nicely on lead and is keen to get out and enjoy walks. He is scared of strangers and dogs he doesn’t know and will bark and lunge at them. This is worse when he walks with the other resident dog, as the other dog is also not a fan of new people. His new family should expect to meet him a couple of times and to be comfortable going at a slow pace to ensure a successful move. Arthur is looking for a calm environment with a family that is home most of the time. He is an intelligent boy who is looking for someone who can provide the stimulation and training that he needs to live his best life. Arthur is in good health. He is allergic to dust and horses and this is managed through bathing and seasonal medication as needed. He is also on anti-anxiety medication and The Red Foundation will pay for the ongoing medical costs relating to this. Arthur is house-trained and travels well in the car. He currently sleeps in the bed with his owner.
