Handmade Ceramic Tea Plate by Minna Graham — Iron

These small, geometric, dark brown-black glazed ceramic plates are handmade by Minna Graham in her Daylesford studio. Each plate features a unique botanical relief and artist stamp motif reminiscent of Chinese bird-and-flower ink paintings (花鳥畫 huāniǎohuà). The glaze used on the plates is deep brown with cool black undertones, rich and opaque, and has a lustrous satin finish akin to wrought iron when held up to the light. These plates are ideal for using as a small tea boat or decorative surface for placing your gaiwan or teapot in a tea brewing set-up. The softened edges and bold geometric lines give each plate a sense of weightiness and make it well suited for pairing with other teaware made of stone, burnished metals, or glazed ceramic that develop patina through use.
