Ceramic Totems with Cat Guevara
Inspired by Latin American carnival traditions and the ceremonial masks and totems of Colombia, this clay workshop invites participants to build a ceramic cat-head totem — a guardian figure rising from a decorated plinth. Working in clay, participants will explore personal symbols, ancestral memory, and our connections to the natural world. This art class is delivered in a playful, accessible environment. Cat Guevara is a Colombian-born visual artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau, whose practice centres on the ritual of making and the permanence of time. She teaches pottery wheel, handbuilding, and community clay projects across Auckland. Suitable for teens and adults at all skill levels. Materials provided.
