Under light the surface shifts and shimmers like a storm caught in stone — no two pieces display the same pattern. High, even polish with a flat back for easy display or comfortable palm-holding.Pietersite is a brecciated aggregate of hawk’s eye (blue crocidolite) and tiger’s eye (golden crocidolite pseudomorphed by quartz), bound together in a chalcedony matrix. The fibrous structure creates strong chatoyancy, and the brecciation produces the swirling, storm-like patterning the stone is known for.
