Founder Anong Beam’s earliest memories growing up on Manitoulin Island, M'chigeeng First Nation, are encountering color with her parents, both practicing artists, and learning to know color as forces, personas with emotions and powers all their own. She learned how to harvest hematite pigment with her father in the La Cloche mountain range, and now continues this tradition as a paint maker. The paints are handmade in small batches with local Manitoulin honey, wildcrafted tree sap, hand gathered, washed, and sifted Manitoulin stone, and the finest lightfast pigments that are 100% non-toxic, smooth, luscious, easy to work with.
