Stylized Walking Bear

A stunning stylized stone carving of a walking polar bear. Stone Approx. 30 x 10 x 12.5 cm Registration no. 1267122 Sappa’s father is Adamie Curley and his mother is Kudloo Ashoona. His grandmother, Mayoreak Ashoona, and his uncle, Kiawak Ashoona, are celebrated Inuit carvers. He was greatly influenced by the art of his grandfather, Kaka Ashoona. One of Sappa’s favourite subjects is the mighty polar bear, and many of his pieces contain exaggerated elements, such as elongated necks and legs.
