Aug 8 | Paddle Canada Basic Skills

This is the primary starting point of the Paddle Canada Sea Kayak skills progression. With a focus on foundation skills and knowledge, Basic Kayak Skills inspires students to go out on short paddling excursions in class-0 or calm and sheltered waters. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to confidently paddle in calm, sheltered waters in the company of peers with similar abilities. This course runs in Class-0 conditions which are described as: Non-challenging protected waters with limited wind effect, little or no current, easy landings, and ready access to land-based assistance. Wind and sea state is calm to rippled (<15km/h or 8 knots). What's included: 1 full day of instruction by a certified Paddle Canada instructor, certification upon successful completion of the course Date: Saturday August 8, 2026 Location: Victoria Area (exact location will be determined by instructor in the week leading up to the course) Prerequisites: None Please bring: Lunch and snacks, Clothing appropriate for immersion, Sun screen (RENTALS: Rental equipment is available upon request)
