Poli Vermouth Rosso Gran Bassano

18% ABV Gorgeous Vermouth Rosso from Jacopo Poli, a noted producer of Grappa from the Veneto in northern Italy. The base wine is Merlot, a French grape varietal that has been cultivated in the Veneto DOC since the late 19th century. Infused with over 20 botanicals most notably: holy thistle and the yarrow moscata, characteristic plants from Bassano area, as well as rhubarb, vanilla, pimento, ginger and liquorice. Most Rosso or sweet red vermouth are made from a white wine base and colored with burnt sugar making this somewhat unusual in construction. That said, it works beautifully in classic cocktail recipes that call for sweet vermouth and is delightful over ice as it has an elegant, silken mouthfeel and botanical punch.
