Built from a 909 kick, a bassline pitched and chopped to fit, and a vocal sample pulled from Paris Is Burning — a 1990 documentary that captured the ballroom scene, the roots of voguing, and the underground culture that house music grew out of. The record began somewhere over the Atlantic on a flight from Paris back to New York, carrying the residue of late nights, long conversations, and dance floors. Those impressions became the foundation for drawing on the warmth of classic Chicago house while filtering it through a modern, understated lens of New York grit. That's what I want to do, is a tribute to the language of house music—born from Chicago, inspired by Europe, and finished in Brooklyn. What it is: A digital single from T.
