Colder weather has arrived. Your elbows have noticed. Body Bâton is back in the Apothecary for its annual cold-weather engagement. A rather substantial stick of shea butter, calendula, evening primrose and apricot oil, made for swiping over all those places winter gets to first: hands, elbows, knees, heels and other bits that were perfectly civilized in August. No dipping into jars. No lotion escaping into your handbag. No standing about half-dressed waiting for something to absorb. Just warm it against the skin, swipe generously and carry on. This year, we're sticking with the favorites: Lavender Soft, herbal and reassuringly well behaved. Unlike most things around here. Woods Green, earthy and handsome. Smells vaguely like someone who knows where the good firewood is kept. Tangerine & Clove Bright, warm and spicy. Essentially a cashmere sweater with better circulation. Keep one bedside. Put one in your bag. Hide one from the rest of the household. Body Bâton only comes out when the temperature goes down. Apparently it has standards.
