Qffmpeg static ffmpeg/ffprobe
Qffmpeg is a self-contained, multi-architecture FFmpeg package designed specifically for QNAP NAS systems. It provides optimized FFmpeg 9.0.2 and FFprobe binaries with a large set of audio, video, image, subtitle, networking and streaming libraries built in. The package supports: x86_64 / amd64 i686 ARM64 / aarch64 ARMHF ARMEL At first startup, Qffmpeg automatically detects the NAS architecture, selects the appropriate binaries and removes unused architectures to save storage space. On compatible Intel x86_64 systems, Qffmpeg can also automatically detect and validate Intel VAAPI and Quick Sync Video (QSV) acceleration. Automatic runtime configuration Qffmpeg includes an intelligent start.sh runtime selector. At startup it: Detects the CPU architecture automatically. Selects the correct FFmpeg and FFprobe binaries. Detects Intel GPUs through /sys and /dev/dri. Performs real VAAPI and QSV capability tests. Automatically falls back to the static CPU implementation when hardware acceleration is unavailable. Creates standard ffmpeg and ffprobe launchers. Removes unused architecture binaries to reduce disk usage. Applications can therefore use stable paths such as: /opt/Qffmpeg/bin/ffmpeg /opt/Qffmpeg/bin/ffprobe For backward compatibility with older installations, Qffmpeg can also expose: /opt/ffmpeg as a symbolic link to the current Qffmpeg installation. Portable and self-contained The standard CPU builds are fully static and designed to minimize dependencies on the QNAP operating system. The Intel hardware profile is kept separate because GPU acceleration requires access to the host Linux graphics stack. The required Intel userspace libraries are bundled with Qffmpeg while the NAS provides the kernel driver, firmware and DRM device. Each build also includes detailed technical information, library versions, configuration, capabilities, licenses and build history through files such as: build-info.txt INSTRUCTIONS.md CHANGELOG.md VERSIONS.tsv SOURCES.tsv LICENSES.md This makes Qffmpeg suitable both as a standalone FFmpeg package and as a shared multimedia runtime for other QNAP applications.
