A bucket high tank drain is a drop leg drain: it extends the drain point down from the tank bung so the outlet and the valve sit at bucket height instead of an inch off the floor. You open it standing up, with a container under it, instead of lying on the floor with a wrench and taking the condensate on your forearm. That sounds like a comfort item and it is not. Tank drains that are awkward to reach do not get used, and a receiver that is not drained rusts from the inside until it is scrap, or worse. Sizes S1137: 1/4 in NPT S1138: 3/8 in NPT S1139: 1/2 in NPT Match the size to the drain port on your receiver. Why drain at all Every cubic foot of air the compressor pumps carries water with it, and most of that water ends up in the bottom of the tank. Left there it attacks the shell from the inside, carries through into the air lines and ruins tools and finishes. Draining daily is the single cheapest thing you can do for the life of a receiver. If nobody is reliably doing that by hand, an automatic drain is the honest answer. We stock pneumatic and electronic automatic tank drains as well. Fitting it Blow the tank down to zero and confirm it on the gauge before you touch the drain port. Use pipe thread sealant rather than tape. Leave the outlet pointing somewhere you can actually get a bucket, and make sure the drop leg is not resting on the floor or on the compressor frame where it will pick up vibration. Related parts We also stock pet cock tank drain valves, pneumatic and electronic automatic tank drains, the Drain-All zero air loss drain and tank manifolds.
