GLP-1 Support Tincture
A tincture is an infusion of an herb or herbs, for medicinal use. Certain preparations of liquids are used to extract the beneficial plant compounds out of the plant solids. My tinctures are highly concentrated so a few drops goes a long way. To use a tincture, simply add a few drops to a glass of water and drink it. This tincture is formulated to support healthy production of the GLP-1 in the gut. GLP-1 is a natural hormone your gut releases after you eat to help control blood sugar, digestion, and appetite. Active ingredients include- Barberry Barberry contains the active compound berberine, which can help support healthy blood sugar levels and insulin function. It helps regulate glucose metabolism by reducing insulin resistance, and inhibiting carbohydrate absorption in the gut. It can stimulate GLP-1 release from intestinal cells, and study show reduction in BMI and waist circumference with its daily use. Berberine is proven effective for lowering fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, and triglycerides in people with prediabetes or early type 2 diabetes. Bitter Melon Bitter Melon acts as a natural GLP-1 secretagogue, meaning it helps stimulate the release of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) from cells in the gut. By boosting natural GLP-1 activity, bitter melon helps lower fasting blood glucose, improve insulin sensitivity, and slow gastric emptying. Clinical studies suggest that bitter melon can improve post-meal blood sugar responses. Ginger Ginger may help improve long-term blood sugar regulation and insulin sensitivity, and also reduce inflammation throughout the body and gut. Its active compounds help muscle and fat cells take up glucose more efficiently from the bloodstream. Daily use can significantly improve A1c levels over time. Ginger may inhibit certain digestive enzymes that break down carbs, leading to smaller post-meal glucose spikes. Ginger can slightly boost your metabolic rate and enhance calorie-burning during digestion, and can also help you feel fuller longer and reduce food cravings. Turmeric Turmeric and its active compound, curcumin, can modestly lower blood sugar and improve insulin sensitivity in people with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. A long-term clinical trial found that 0% of prediabetic participants taking curcumin developed type 2 diabetes. Turmeric helps reduce chronic inflammation associated with obesity and metabolic syndrome. Ceylon Cinnamon Active compounds found in Ceylon cinnamon can improve insulin sensitivity and help blunt blood sugar spikes after meals. Ceylon Cinnamon can slow down how fast food leaves your stomach, which may help promote feelings of fullness. Studies suggest its compounds may influence fat metabolism at the cellular level.
