Hand-Embroidered Pouch by Lowtfiyah

A rectangular zip pouch in ivory fabric, richly covered with gold embroidery arranged in repeating spirals and leaf-like forms. Finished with a cream tassel and a fine gold cord strap, the design draws on traditional Yemeni stitches, motifs and colour palettes. This hand-embroidered pouch was made by Lowtfiyah, a mother of three grown-up children who joined YENOF in 2020 to supplement her family’s income. Having had no access to formal education, she developed her skills through YENOF’s embroidery programme. In 2025, she also contributed to its embroidery preservation project, creating a wall piece inspired by festive dresses from the Djebel Haraz region. The piece was selected for display at the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford in May 2026. Handmade and intricately textured, this is a one-of-a-kind piece, with only one available.
