About the Product The Facon CW-P618 is a 6" x 18" self-adhesive silicone heater pad. It is the narrow one in the Facon lineup, so it goes where the larger tank pads will not fit: tight bays, curved surfaces, and short runs you need to keep above freezing. It bonds directly to the surface with full-surface adhesive backing and runs off a 12V circuit. It will also wrap a 1-1/2" pipe if that is the spot you are protecting. Unlike the tank pads, this one has no thermostat. It stays off until you flip the switch, which means you control when it runs. Do not stretch it. Ambient temperature needs to be at least 68°F for the adhesive to bond, so install before cold weather hits, not during a freeze. Insulation can go over the pad once it is bonded. Wire to a 12V circuit fused for the correct amperage. Facon calls for this pad to be wired directly to an on/off switch, since there is no thermostat in it to cycle it. Observe the polarity marked on the leads. Secure the leads once the pad is in place. If you are running more than one pad, wire them in parallel and size the circuit for the combined draw. Because nothing cycles this pad automatically, switch it on when temperatures approach freezing and off when they do not. A timer or an external thermostat handles that for you if you would rather not think about it. For larger flat surfaces, look at the CW-ST725 (7-1/4" x 25") and CW-T1218 (12" x 18") 12V pads instead.
