Lady of the Sunshine - Pinot Noir 'Chene Vineyards' Edna Valley 2025
This vintage is a composite blend of the steepest hillside blocks that sit on Monterey formation rock bed. This site is naturally low vigor and makes for concentrated, small clusters that achieve stem lignification early on. The grapes were fermented with 100% whole-cluster with light extraction during fermentation. The wine was pressed in our wooden basket press at dryness and aged for 10 months in neutral french oak barrels. This bottling consists of 75% free run barrels with added press barrels for texture and tension. The wine was racked for the first time to bottle, unfined and unfiltered, with minimal sulfur used. Crushed raspberry, wild strawberry, sweet cherry, violets and dried rose petals, with hints of star anise and baking spice. Bright, crunchy red fruit with savory herbal notes, fresh acidity and a delicate earthy, mineral character. Medium-bodied but graceful, with gentle whole-cluster spice and fine, chalky tannins. Roast chicken, duck breast, grilled salmon, pork tenderloin, wild mushrooms or roasted beets.
