Under the Spotlight 2026 – Oakfields College Performing Arts Showcase

The Oakfields College performing arts faculty presents Under the Spotlight 2026, a showcase celebrating the creativity, curiosity and artistry of its performing arts students. The production runs for two nights only at Wilge Teater, Pretoria, on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 November 2026 at 19h00. The evening brings together two distinct presentations: an original devised work and a selection of performances developed in the acting classroom. Together they showcase the students’ individual voices, collaborative spirit and growing artistry as performers. A Matter of Love The Higher Certificate in Acting students present an original devised work inspired by South African traditions and cultures. Audiences meet twelve unforgettable characters as they collide in a chaotic discussion about lobola: the customs, commitments and family negotiations that bring two families together ahead of a marriage. From Zulu Man’s greatest fear to Cousin Jessie’s know-it-all attitude, expect clashing personalities, unexpected twists and plenty of chaos. But the real question is… who’s getting married? On the Floor The third-year musical theatre students present a selection of work shaped by a year of exploration, experimentation and discovery in the acting classroom. Drawing on developing technique, imagination and commitment to character, the performers bring their creative choices to life in a collection that celebrates the risks taken, the discoveries made and the stories told along the way.
