Larinem Park Woodland Stonecrop (Sedum ternatum ‘Larinem Park’)
Larinem Park Woodland Stonecrop is a particularly floriferous selection of one of eastern North America’s most distinctive native sedums. Creeping stems form a dense, low mat of rounded leaves arranged in characteristic groups of three, followed in late spring by masses of small white, star-shaped flowers. Its tidy spreading habit makes it especially useful between rocks, along shaded paths, beneath shrubs, and at the front of woodland borders. Unlike many ornamental sedums, native Sedum ternatum naturally grows in shaded rocks, ravines, streambanks, and woodlands. ‘Larinem Park’ performs beautifully in partial to substantial shade while established plants can also tolerate drought, shallow rocky soils, and some sun. Its flowers provide spring nectar for bees and butterflies, and the species supports several native caterpillars. As a selected form of native S. ternatum, ‘Larinem Park’ retains these ecological relationships while offering especially abundant flowering and a refined groundcover habit. Why Choose Larinem Park Woodland Stonecrop: Masses of white star-shaped flowers brighten spring shade Low spreading habit creates an attractive native groundcover Supports bees, butterflies, and native caterpillars Tolerates dry shade and shallow rocky soils once established Excellent for woodland edges, rock gardens, paths, and beneath shrubs Plant in partial to full shade with well-drained soil, and avoid persistently wet conditions. Allow stems to spread naturally into a mat, or trim wandering edges as needed to keep the planting contained.
