Commuter

2026 Gold, platinum and palladium on powdered amazonite ground on copper 150 x 100mm The subject of this drawing was not a commuter. He was in fact a weekend visitor to the deconsecrated church of Santa Maria dello Spasimo in Palermo, where he skipped between the puddles of its rather derelict spaces. He seemed, however, to have so metabolised the spirit of Very Serious Business that it had come to define him. Even in his sleep, perhaps, this man might only be in transit from one instalment of Serious Business to another, a perennial commuter.
