Big, soft, overlapping shapes — petals, pebbles, leaves, call them what you like — flow across this rug and interlock like a Matisse cut-out translated into wool. There is no traditional motif here and no repeat, just organic forms arranged by eye for balance and movement. It is modern art for the floor, and a confident piece of it. The palette is warm and autumnal: terracotta and rust, brick red, burgundy-plum, chocolate and cream, with cooling notes of dusty blue and sage threaded through so the warmth never turns heavy. It is newly hand-knotted in 100% wool by the women artisans we work with in Morocco, hand-spun and hand-dyed using our traditional vat-dyeing process.
