WD My Passport Ultra USB-C Portable Hard Drive

Carry More of Your Digital Life in a Polished Portable Drive Give your photos, videos and work files room to grow beyond your computer's internal storage. WD My Passport Ultra combines portable hard-drive capacity with a distinctive metal design and a native USB-C connection. Keep a media collection close, carry completed projects between locations or create a separate backup of content you want to protect. A supplied USB-C cable and USB-A adapter make it easy to connect to compatible computer ports. USB power keeps your everyday kit compact, while supported backup software, password protection and hardware encryption help turn extra storage into a useful part of your routine. Highlights A Portable Home for Growing Collections External hard-drive storage for documents, photos, video and supported backups. Metal design with USB-powered portability. Flexible Connections Included Native USB-C connector with a supplied USB-C cable. USB-A adapter included for compatible host ports. Useful Backup and Privacy Features Password protection with built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption through supported WD Security. Included Acronis True Image for Western Digital supports computer-backup and ransomware-protection features after download and setup. Key Features Make Room Without Changing Your Computer Keep photo libraries, music, documents and completed projects on a dedicated external drive. My Passport Ultra gives compatible Windows computers extra file-storage space without an internal hardware upgrade. Organise working files separately from archives and allow room for the content you expect to add. If the drive will also hold backups, plan for those copies as well as your everyday collection. Connect Through USB-C or USB-A The native USB-C connector works with the supplied SuperSpeed USB-C to USB-C cable for a compatible computer. Attach the included USB-C to USB-A adapter when your host uses a suitable USB-A port. Both data and operating power come through USB, keeping the everyday setup simple and avoiding a separate mains adapter in your laptop bag. Keep the USB Link and Drive Speed in Perspective USB 3.2 Gen 1 provides a connection rated up to 5Gb/s. That figure describes the USB link rather than a guaranteed hard-drive file-transfer speed. Your computer, connection and file sizes influence actual results. My Passport Ultra is a practical destination for media collections, documents and supported backup copies when generous portable storage matters more than SSD-class access times. Build a Backup Routine You Can Maintain Acronis True Image for Western Digital supports scheduled computer backups and features that help protect against ransomware on supported systems. Its supported workflow can preserve the operating system, applications, settings and locally stored content. Download, installation and activation with a compatible WD device are required under the included software offer. Keep original files alongside your backup, so valuable content remains in more than one place. Put Private Content Behind a Password Built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption works with supported WD Security software to enable password protection. This is useful when a drive carries personal documents or work files away from your desk. Current WD Security supports Windows 11 and macOS 14, 15 and 26; Macs with Apple silicon require Rosetta 2. Record your password securely, because WD support cannot recover a forgotten drive password. Prepare Mac Access Around Your Application WD lists basic Windows 10 or later support and provides an NTFS-driver route for supported macOS computers. A compatible NTFS driver enables Mac read and write access to an NTFS-formatted drive; a suitable reformat is an alternative when required by your chosen workflow. Back up existing files before changing the format. File access and a particular backup application can have different requirements, including restrictions on NTFS backup destinations. Choose a Considered Portable Design The distinctive metal design gives the drive a polished finish beside a laptop or workstation. Its enclosure uses more than 50% post-consumer recycled plastic, and the fully recyclable packaging contains over 50% post-consumer recycled pulp. These material details sit alongside a compact, USB-powered design intended to keep a useful file collection close, whether you are working at home, at your desk or between locations. Support Everyday Storage with a Clear Warranty A three-year manufacturer limited warranty covers the hardware under the applicable country-of-purchase terms. Treat the unit as a mechanical hard drive: keep it stable while transferring files and safely eject it before disconnecting. For irreplaceable photos, project work and personal documents, maintain another copy on a separate device or suitable backup service rather than relying on a single portable drive. Summary WD My Passport Ultra combines a polished portable design, flexible USB connections and useful protection tools for a growing file collection. Use it to keep media and completed work close or establish a supported backup routine, while preparing the file system and optional software for the computers you intend to use.
