Electric Dream #3

'Electric Dream #3' is a Melbourne street scene by Australian stencil artist Geoff Cunningham. Before Spotify existed, music came on cassette tapes- here we find a confident young woman walking beneath a web of overhead power lines, headphones on and lost in her own soundtrack as the city hums quietly around her. The buildings are deliberately washed in pink, pushing the scene away from strict realism and into something closer to memory. Like an old photograph or slide, the place is recognisable, but the colour gives it a slightly dreamlike edge. Created using Cunningham’s signature multi-layer stencil technique, the work is built up through carefully hand-cut stencils and layered spray paint to capture those small cinematic moments of everyday Melbourne life we usually pass without noticing. Created in Geoff Cunningham’s stencil-inspired style using acrylic and aerosol on canvas. 50 x 60cm (53 x 63cm framed) Acrylic, aerosol & collage on canvas.
