The CANTA Integrated Amplifier combines a Class A 6SN7 triode linestage with a high-current MOSFET output stage, in a chassis machined from solid aluminum. It is part of CANTA, a new series of components from Vinnie Rossi. Linestage and output stage The linestage is dual mono and runs in Class A, with one 6SN7 triode per channel used for voltage gain. The output stage is dual mono Class AB and uses two precision-matched lateral MOSFETs per rail. Signal and power paths are kept very short. Power supply and chassis The power supply combines power factor correction, a custom switch-mode design and Belleson super-regulated outputs. It is built for very low noise and for stable operation as AC mains conditions change. The chassis starts as a solid block of aluminum that is CNC machined, bead blasted and anodized. The construction also provides shielding, resonance control and thermal management. Controls Volume is set by a 100-step resistor ladder. Each of the four line inputs keeps its own gain and balance settings. The front-panel LCD covers these settings, Home Theater Bypass for use with an AV processor, and display brightness. The infrared remote is machined from solid aluminum, and the amplifier ships in an airtight hard case with a custom foam interior.
