Antique 19th Century Italian Renaissance Revival carved Savonarola chair circa 1890. This chair carved of fine walnut is a beautiful example of the Renaissance Revival movement that swept through the decorative arts in the late 19th century. Present in the carved details of this chair are motifs of the green man, a mythical figure representing the masculine energy of the nature. The arms and stretchers also ornately carved and having stylized lion masks. The seat is of X-frame or Curule shape. Condition is excellent the chair is very sturdy & comfortable, the upholstery & fabric are in great condition and have just been professionally recovered. The chair has a wonderful warm patina and has just lovingly received a coat of wax in Bloomsbury's professional workshops. This very attractive antique chair is ready to grace your space.
