"Pikake" is the Hawaiian name for Arabian jasmine, and also means "peacock" in Hawaiian. The flower and colorful bird were loved by Princess Kaiulani, who grew jasmine and lived with peacocks in her Waikiki mansion, Ainahau. In Hawaii, both came to be called "Pikake" with love and respect for the princess.
