Garden Totems: Handbuilding with Clay | Gossett | Tues evening
Create a unique ceramic garden or porch totem while learning the fundamentals of working with clay. Through demonstrations, guided practice, and individual instruction, students will learn essential handbuilding techniques including pinching, coiling, slab construction, and extruding. Over eight weeks, participants will design and create a series of stacked ceramic forms that can be assembled into a decorative totem for a garden, patio, porch, or indoor space. Students will explore form, texture, pattern, and color while developing an understanding of clay construction, drying, firing, and glazing processes. The course encourages creativity and personal expression while building confidence with clay. By the end of the session, each student will have completed a collection of durable, weather-conscious ceramic components ready to be stacked into a one-of-a-kind sculptural totem. No experience required. All skill levels are welcome. Materials (first 25# of clay and studio glazes) and firing fees included.
